Short Synopsis
King Jason's War explores a fantasy world caught in the grips of a decades-old war. The legendary FirstKing is dead, and though the enemy's army failed to capture the capitol, they hold absolute control of nearly half of his nation. With the verdant territory of continental Ardain under their control, and the treacherous channel separating them from the placid Northlands, an uneasy cease-fire has fallen. As years slip by without a single significant victory, the FirstKing's general and heir finds himself master of a kingdom weary of war, and ready to abandon the Ardain to its enemy occupiers.

This book tells the story of a boy raised deep in the occupied territory, in a lone city resisting the occupation. After a band of the king's scouts take refuge in the city, they bring the boy with them back to the capitol so that he can tell the king the patriotic story of his hometown's dedication. The king sends him on a tour of all the lands still under his control, and the boy's story rouses the nation once more to war. Even as he succeeds, though, the child learns for himself how pointless war can be. When he is adopted by the king and made heir to an increasingly hawkish nation, he must decide between his own newfound pacifism and the power of the throne.

Literary Influences
King Jason's War explores the politics and intrigues of a medieval court in the style of The Three Musketeers or Ivanhoe, but sets the tale in a rich, captivating fantasy world that evokes Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

Novels in this Universe
King Jason's War takes place in the universe of the FirstKing, centuries before the life of The Poet Alexander which sets the stage for the events of the Dragonprince trilogy.
