Better than a Sonnet

Better than a Sonnet

(12 March 2003)

With Love to My Wife, on Valentine's Day

You are my love, my life, my Valentine,

My precious gift, my reason to go on.

You've offered me your heart, and carry mine

And grant me joy from dawn to golden dawn...

With Love to My Wife, on Valentine's Day

Sweet Trish!  My heart, my life...my loving wife,

Who makes my burdens light, who shares my joy...

On Valentine's Day

She carries me, or leans on me--in strife,

Or peace, or boredom, still she's by my side

And holds me up where mortal strength cannot

And drives me on to do...

Valentine's Day

What words could say...

Valentine's Day

Now how could I with words convey...

     Dear Trish,

Perhaps plain words are better than a song,

to say "I love you."  I'll always love you.
